Andelin Family Farm

AndelinLogoMy husband Cameron and I have lived in Spanish Springs for 13 years, and in August of 2009 had the opportunity to move to and manage the family farm. We felt that it would be a great opportunity for our five kids, to be able to experience the work and fun of living on a farm.
After we moved, I started thinking of some ideas and opportunities to build a business on this beautiful property in the middle of the Spanish Springs valley. We are just off Pyramid, and close to schools and stores, but have a unique farm setting that I thought could be a benefit to the community. I had the idea of creating a Pumpkin Patch as a fun attraction for the fall. There are not many pumpkin patches in our area, and since I like to garden and put on big events, I thought it would be the perfect way to create something great for others, while working together as a family. Our kids have all helped with planting, weeding, feeding animals, setting up, painting, etc. to help make it possible. It has been a lot of work growing the pumpkins and preparing all the activities, but it’s been worth it! We feel blessed to live here and hope that your visit to the farm will be thoroughly enjoyable!

Kevin J. Andrews Orthodontics

AndrewsBracesLogokevinDr. Kevin J. Andrews is an artist, but he doesn’t work with oils or watercolors, he works with teeth. Using wire, plastic, glue and bits of metal, he produces world-class smiles in his orthodontic office at 2125 Green Vista Drive, Sparks, Nevada. He’s a guy who loves what he’s doing and can’t imagine doing anything else!

Dr. Andrews was raised in Southern California and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda Dental School in 1988. He practiced dentistry for two years before returning to school to specialize in orthodontics. He then moved back to Reno where two generations of his family have lived. Dr. Andrews is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, a certified Diplomate of the National Board of Orthodontics and the Former President of the Nevada Orthodontic Association, for the state of Nevada.

In September of 1993, he bought a small practice in Reno and has built it up to its present level. In February 1998, Dr. Andrews relocated his practice to Sparks, Nevada and since then has been welcoming patients to his well-appointed office across from Wildcreek Golf Course. There, he and his team offer what he calls “personalized orthodontics.”

Dr. Kevin J. Andrews is a specialist in smiles. He uses the latest technology to give his patients a new sense of self and says he gets the most satisfaction from, “Knowing that we’re setting our patients up for good health and positive self-images for the rest of their lives. It’s important to me that when they come here, we make them feel special and they do – you can see it in their smiles!” “About 20% of our patients are adults between the ages of 25 and 45,” he says, “although I’ve treated patients as young as 4 years old, and as old as 74.”

The first visit to Dr. Andrews involves an orthodontic evaluation that includes an x-ray, visual examination and computerized digital imaging photographs of the patient’s teeth and face which gives the patient and the doctor a full color view.

Purple Door ImagePurple Door Philosophy

Purple Door Preschool’s philosophy is to help children grow cognitively by supporting self-regulation in the classroom. Children need to have the opportunity to soar into the future they deserve. Each child is an amazing individual. We want your child to have a sense of self-worth, sense of trust and curiosity, have the capacity to play with times of solitude and explore in a rich environment. Our school will give them the ability to think critically, solve problems and live in an increasingly interconnected society, all skills needed to move into the 21st century. We want them to have a deep and meaningful relationship with our teachers. Our staff will extend reciprocal respect between teacher, parent and child, which will lead to dignity for all.

The School Day

Purple Door Preschool is a center based program with an emphasis on play. Through play, our students will learn all the academic tools necessary to start kindergarten including letter recognition, phonics and numbers. Our students will not be confined to one classroom, they will move from center to center with the same teacher and same ten children throughout the day. Sierra Blades Fencing Academy

Welcome to Fencing

Sierra Blades LogoSierra Blades was formed in 2015 to provide both youth fencing classes, youth fencing camps, and continuing education classes in collaboration with Truckee Meadows Community College and Western Nevada College.

Why Fencing?

The first thing that many parents want to know before their children participate in any activity is “why?” There are many reasons that children should participate in athletic activities: team and individual sports help build confidence, are a great way to meet and interact with a diverse group of people, and, if continued into adulthood, are part of a healthy and active lifestyle. But why, specifically, should your child become a fencer?

Sierra Can Cleaners

Sierra Can Cleaners Logo

We do the job no one wants to

No one will are argue that dirty trash cans are, at best, unpleasant and unsightly. Dirty trash cans are known to be a breeding ground to harmful bacteria, insects, viruses, rodents, and may attract foraging animals in search of a meal. Opening the lid often greets you with foul smelling odors, and sometimes worse. As the temperature rises so do the smells emanating from your uncleaned cans. Sierra Can Cleaners is here to help solve those smelly problems! We use a high pressure process using filtered water and biodegradable cleaners to sanitize, disinfect, and deodorize your trash can. After using our service you’ll be able to open the lid without the olfactory overload!

Does your HOA require you to keep your can(s) inside of your garage? We will gladly work with your HOA and the homeowners to provide this service in your area so you go back into your garage for longer than the amount of time it takes you to hold your breath!

Sierra Therapy Group

The Sierra Therapy Group is a team of speech-language pathologists & occupational therapists committed to improving children’s speech-language and life/adaptive skills. We are proud to provide speech pathology & occupational therapy services for children in Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Lake Tahoe, Fernley, Gardnerville, & the greater Northern Nevada area.

Our Philosophy

Our therapeutic sessions are driven by the following philosophies to best serve our clients:

Family-Centered

“In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future.” Alex Haley

Since most communication and life skills take place at home and in the community, it is essential for us to work closely with families. We provide not only quality intervention, but we also provide caregivers with strategies to facilitate their children’s speech-language and life skills in everyday routines, such as grocery shopping and mealtimes.

Empowerment

“If you want your children to improve, let them overhear the nice things you say about them to others.” Haim Ginott

Successful communication and interactions with others enhance and cultivate self-esteem. Success with life skills in everyday activities also enhances and cultivates self-esteem. We empower children by using a child-directed therapeutic model. We also empower parents by showing them how they can scaffold successful communication and life skills. We focus on individual strengths and interests of each family to target specific goals. We also provide treatment based on the child’s strengths and weaknesses, not within the box of a specific diagnosis, if a child has one.

Play

“Play is the beginning of knowledge.” Anonymous

Play is the primary focus of our therapy. Because learning is an interactive process, we use hands-on activities and games that allow children to participate actively in our sessions. This naturalistic approach allows children to have fun and improve their communication and life skills at the same time.

Step Into Music

Founded in 1987, Step Into Music offers quality music and movement classes for young children, newborns through 7 years, and violin instruction for children 5 years and older. Activities are developmentally appropriate and are based on current research about brain and cognitive development. We aim to give children a wonderful musical start and to encourage a lifetime of musical enjoyment.
