Kevin J. Andrews Orthodontics

AndrewsBracesLogokevinDr. Kevin J. Andrews is an artist, but he doesn’t work with oils or watercolors, he works with teeth. Using wire, plastic, glue and bits of metal, he produces world-class smiles in his orthodontic office at 2125 Green Vista Drive, Sparks, Nevada. He’s a guy who loves what he’s doing and can’t imagine doing anything else!

Dr. Andrews was raised in Southern California and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda Dental School in 1988. He practiced dentistry for two years before returning to school to specialize in orthodontics. He then moved back to Reno where two generations of his family have lived. Dr. Andrews is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, a certified Diplomate of the National Board of Orthodontics and the Former President of the Nevada Orthodontic Association, for the state of Nevada.

In September of 1993, he bought a small practice in Reno and has built it up to its present level. In February 1998, Dr. Andrews relocated his practice to Sparks, Nevada and since then has been welcoming patients to his well-appointed office across from Wildcreek Golf Course. There, he and his team offer what he calls “personalized orthodontics.”

Dr. Kevin J. Andrews is a specialist in smiles. He uses the latest technology to give his patients a new sense of self and says he gets the most satisfaction from, “Knowing that we’re setting our patients up for good health and positive self-images for the rest of their lives. It’s important to me that when they come here, we make them feel special and they do – you can see it in their smiles!” “About 20% of our patients are adults between the ages of 25 and 45,” he says, “although I’ve treated patients as young as 4 years old, and as old as 74.”

The first visit to Dr. Andrews involves an orthodontic evaluation that includes an x-ray, visual examination and computerized digital imaging photographs of the patient’s teeth and face which gives the patient and the doctor a full color view.

Purple Door Preschool

Purple Door ImagePurple Door Philosophy

Purple Door Preschool’s philosophy is to help children grow cognitively by supporting self-regulation in the classroom. Children need to have the opportunity to soar into the future they deserve. Each child is an amazing individual. We want your child to have a sense of self-worth, sense of trust and curiosity, have the capacity to play with times of solitude and explore in a rich environment. Pre-schoolers use their senses to get to know the world around them. Our school will give them the ability to think critically, solve problems and live in an increasingly interconnected society, all skills needed to move into the 21st century. We want them to have a deep and meaningful relationship with our teachers. Our staff will extend reciprocal respect between teacher, parent and child, which will lead to dignity for all.

The School Day

Purple Door Preschool is a center based program with an emphasis on play. Through play, our students will learn all the academic tools necessary to start kindergarten including letter recognition, phonics and numbers. Our students will not be confined to one classroom, they will move from center to center with the same teacher and same ten children throughout the day. All children are given the opportunity to utilize twelve unique spaces throughout the week.

Reno Child and Family Therapy

Looking for the right counselor can be difficult and overwhelming. Thinking about counseling is a great first step, because it indicates that you are still hopeful! I believe that ALL people are capable of change, but sometimes we just need a little help.

I often hear: “nobody really hears me” or “my kids are out of control” or “my marriage is falling apart” or “I just want to be happy again”…I understand these very valid concerns and fears, and I’m happy to come alongside you with hope, trust, and compassion in order to help you find peace within yourself and in your home. This peace can be found through emotional, spiritual, relational, and behavioral healing. And improved communication and strengthened relationships can bring forth hope and happiness again!

My approach to counseling is to target conflict and aggression within your primary relationships in order to find restoration; as well as help you to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. I work with individuals of all ages, couples, and families from all backgrounds. I also offer group therapy and business consultation.

We are proud to provide speech pathology & occupational therapy services for children in Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Lake Tahoe, Fernley, Gardnerville, & the greater Northern Nevada area.

Our Philosophy

Our therapeutic sessions are driven by the following philosophies to best serve our clients:

“In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future.” Alex Haley

Since most communication and life skills take place at home and in the community, it is essential for us to work closely with families. We provide not only quality intervention, but we also provide caregivers with strategies to facilitate their children’s speech-language and life skills in everyday routines, such as grocery shopping and mealtimes.

“If you want your children to improve, let them overhear the nice things you say about them to others.” Haim Ginott

Successful communication and interactions with others enhance and cultivate self-esteem. Success with life skills in everyday activities also enhances and cultivates self-esteem. We empower children by using a child-directed therapeutic model. We also empower parents by showing them how they can scaffold successful communication and life skills. We focus on individual strengths and interests of each family to target specific goals. We also provide treatment based on the child’s strengths and weaknesses, not within the box of a specific diagnosis, if a child has one.

“Play is the beginning of knowledge.” Anonymous

Play is the primary focus of our therapy. Because learning is an interactive process, we use hands-on activities and games that allow children to participate actively in our sessions. This naturalistic approach allows children to have fun and improve their communication and life skills at the same time.

Only a few plants can survive these conditions without additional care and maintenance. The Arboretum’s primary purpose is education, research, conservation, and to demonstrate how introduced plant species and native plants grow in a high desert environment. The Wilbur D. May Arboretum & Botanical Garden is a member of the American Public Garden Association (APGA) and a certified Level II Arboretum through the Arb Net Program administered by the Morton Arboretum of Registered Arboreta, Lisle, IL.
